About Pastor Ed
Founder of Higher Ground Ministries
Pastor Ed was born in Davenport, Iowa in 1950 and spent the first twenty-one years of his life there. He got sober in a 12-Step Program in Davenport on Jan. 5, 1971 and has been sober every since.
From the very beginning Ed was in demand as a speaker and has traveled extensively speaking to 12-Step groups and other organziations nationally and internationally. He continues to serve as a motivational speaker regularly at a variety of events including banquets and awards dinners for various industries around the United States.
In late 1972, Ed Moved to Southern California becoming even more active in his 12-Step Program. Through his speaking, he was invited to become part of an ice skating review that took him to Asia and eastern parts of the world. He later became the road manager for the Harlem Globetrotters. While on a European tour, Ed met his wife. Though now divorced, Ed has three children who live in Southern California with their mother.
Ed spent many years in upper management in sales, as a motivational speaker around the country, and running multi-million dollar businesses. In 1988, Ed returned to his hometown of Davenport, Iowa. It was there in 1992 while on a spiritual retreat that he experienced a powerful spiritual awakening. Ed received his call to ministry and became a United Methodist Minister.
Pastor Ed received his BA from the University of Dubuque and attained his Masters of Divinity Degree from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary.
After spending eight years with The United Methodist Church, Ed was led to deepen his work with 12 step programs. He then planted his own church called Reaching for Higher Ground Ministries in Davenport, Iowa.
Ed continues to be involved in his 12-Step program. He cherishes the opportunity to share retreats with people from all walks of life who need Faith, Hope and spiritual direction in their life.
Pastor Ed believes that the most important thing he can do in this world is use his unique, God-given gifts to help people whether in a group setting, through individual life coaching, speaking at 12 step and non-12 step events, or through spiritual direction.
